Put a watchman on the wall of your eye/ear gate!

In the natural, what we feed self is what we will become. In the spiritual, what we feed self is what we will become. Emotionally, we are deeply impacted by what we think about – thoughts create feelings and we usually act out what we feel. If we allow any activity to consume our time, we will become controlled by that activity and it will become addictive.

Watching or interacting with electronic devices affects the brain. If the brain is over stimulated by the activity it sees, it creates a surge of ‘feel good’ chemicals to the level the brain cannot process. This continual surge to the brain creates an addiction. This happens with the repetitive use of porn, having sex with self, electronic gaming activities, YouTube, etc.

The latest craze is the new Pokémon Go electronic game. I’ve been reading several articles regarding this game. Do your own research. Parents are reporting how their children’s personalities have changed negatively. When they remove this game from their children’s use, their personalities return to healthiness. Adults are being controlled by it. The creator of the game has admitted it has an anti-Christian influence.

The god of this world who is the devil is influencing the daily horrific killings of innocent policemen and all the evil that is in the world today. We are all born sinners, but we are not born with hate in our hearts. We all are selfish, but how we are nurtured influences our actions. When the selfish side of our nature is encouraged by negative examples of legalizing abortions – having sex outside of marriage, aborting unwanted babies, all types of evil portrayed through TV programs, movies, DVD’s, Internet porn, it desensitizes the heart and mind. The subliminal message is that lives do not matter. The only thing that matters is fulfilling selfish sinful desires.

Our eyes and ears are the gates to our souls. Psalms 101 & 119 teaches us God’s wisdom. We are not to set before our eyes evil, wicked or worthless things. This is the most important question you must ask yourself about what you and your children are viewing and interacting with. “Is this evil, wicked or worthless?”

God calls us to love Him with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength. We are to present our bodies to Him as a living sacrifice as our worship. We are to glorify God in our body and spirit that belongs to God. If any activity or desire controls our thoughts, feelings and actions more that God, we are in a huge spiritual calamity.

I taught children in Sunday school a song that taught the principle of being careful what you see, hear, say and do. Why? “Because the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little eye-tongue-feet-ear what you see, say and do.”

The demons believe in one God and tremble. They are doomed to hell. There is no salvation for the devil and his demons. But our loving Savior, Lord Jesus Christ, proved His love by paying for our sins on the cross. It is obeying the Word of God that will save our souls. After salvation, it is our choice to live with a heart that hungers for more of God. When we fill our hearts with His Word by reading, listening and praying the Word, we are equipping ourselves with His Wisdom to make right choices in our lives.

Psalm 119:9-16 The Message 9-16

“How can a young person live a clean life?
 By carefully reading the map of your Word.
 I’m single-minded in pursuit of you;
 don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted.
 I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart
 so I won’t sin myself bankrupt.
 Be blessed, God;
 train me in your ways of wise living.
 I’ll transfer to my lips
 all the counsel that comes from your mouth;
 I delight far more in what you tell me about living
  than in gathering a pile of riches.
 I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you,
 I attentively watch how you’ve done it.
 I relish everything you’ve told me of life,
 I won’t forget a word of it.”

What do you allow your eyes to see and your ears to hear? We must use the Word of God as a ‘watchman on the wall’ of our ear and eye gates. I wrote this statement on my Facebook page, “When anything begins to control our desires and thoughts more than God, we are in trouble. We must be aware of the wiles or scheming of the devil. If he can control our mind, he can control our heart! We must put a watchman on the wall of our eye/ear gates!”

Psalm 139:23 & 24 “Investigate my life, O God,
 find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me,
 get a clear picture of what I’m about;
 See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong—
then guide me on the road to eternal life.”
