Proverbs – God’s Wisdom on sexual purity!
James tells us implanting God’s Words in our hearts will save our souls. I have made reading the Proverbs of the day an intricate part of my daily life. Not just a reader, but a doer of God’s Wisdom.
Proverbs 5: 21-23 NLT – “For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self-control; he will be lost because of his great foolishness.”
These three scriptures teach us that God sees everything that we do and say. From the heart are the issues of life. This 5th chapter is challenging the man to flee sexual sins. Since I have counseled porn addiction recovery for 27 years, this spoke to the truth of the stronghold sexual sins.
The majority of men I have counseled were exposed to porn between the ages of 8 – 10 years old (the average age of boys today). Sometime later they experience salvation (Acts2), but they never allow God to be the LORD of their life. Every act of sin is a choice! Porn use creates a self-induced sexual addiction that catches and holds the man as if tied in ropes of great foolishness that leads to physical and spiritual death! When we discipline ourselves to eat the Word of God daily, we will have the one weapon we need to overcome ALL sin temptations! Ephesians 6 – the whole armor of God includes the one weapon – “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God!” Hope and healing are possible through God’s Spirit and His Word!
Parents! Have family devotions daily – reading one chapter at a time and discussing how to apply God’s truth to everyday life is absolutely necessary! Then, as parents, we must practice what we preach! If you desire godly children, you must live godly! Show by example how the Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path! God’s wisdom never fails!
