My hunger for God to equip me in being able to help hurting hearts started in my 30’s. God had moved us to a church where I was asked to be a guest teacher for the young married class. I had been teaching from the Bible since I was 14 years old starting with the toddlers/children. In the adult classes, the people loved my teaching but would come to me with broken situations in their lives. They were saved, but hurting.
God opened a door for me to attend a new program at the fully accredited Bible College at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento, CA. – “The Institute of Christian Counseling” – for college credits. I started the two-year program by faith. Each month the Lord provided. I was thrilled because the counseling principles were taught through the Word of God. It gave me a much deeper understanding of God’s Word for hope and healing.
When I graduated in 1992, Pastor Kenneth Haney of Christian Life Center, Stockton, CA brought me on staff part/time as a pastoral counselor. I had already done a year of practicum counseling for CLC. I counseled for a total of 10 years and also taught at Christian Life College six years under Dr. Daniel Segraves.
Pastor Kenneth Haney would say to me, “I do not know what you are doing, but I see good things happening in the people you are counseling.” He believed and trusted in my ministry. The last year he was the pastor, he had me teach the evening adult Sunday class. Dr. Daniel Segraves taught the morning adult Sunday class.
Through these 25 years, I teach nationwide for churches/conferences (including marriage seminars) and providing a nationwide counseling ministry by phone, Facetime, Facebook video, and Skype. (Teaching in churches in other countries and counseling through Skype.com).
My heartbeat is to help hurting people be healed through the power of His Spirit and His Word. I counsel porn addiction recovery, sexual abuse recovery, divorce recovery, marriages (Book: God’s Design for Marriage), emotional healing, anxiety, depression, victims of Satanic cults, grief issues, abandonment, parenting, teens, etc.
God’s Word has the answers for hurting hearts. The reason the hurting heart gets stuck in its pain is because the great deceiver, the devil, knows how to keep people bound up in their toxic thinking. It is like watching a mouse climbing around and around in a mini Ferris wheel. The devil, the father of all lies, helps the hurting heart to remain stuck in the toxic thinking wheel until they are dizzy with doubt. The Bible says we can be transformed by renewing our mind! – Romans 12: 1 & 2.
In my counseling, I start every session with a short prayer seeking God’s wisdom and guidance for that hour. I ask for their story in detail. I listen to the hurting heart. I listen for the toxic statements. Then as the Lord, leads, I start sharing God’s truth. I ask, “What is God’s truth about this situation?” God is the Wonderful Counselor and the Prince of Peace! We start unwrapping the death rags of toxic thinking and replacing them with God’s healing armor and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God! There are hope and healing in all situations, even in facing death!
God is the God of all comfort! The church must become equipped how to help the hurting hearts after the salvation of the soul. Salvation removes our sins, but it does not remove our life’s experiences or our painful emotions. Thousands of people have told me that their leaders would say, “You just need to pray and read your Bible more.” They prayed and read more and still had the emotional pain or addiction because no one had the knowledge how to walk them through God’s Word with His healing balm.
There is healing for saved but hurting hearts. Recently I received this testimonial regarding my counseling:

This deeply touched my heart. I hear these same heartfelt messages from the thousands of people that God has touched by me being a conduit of His truth for over 25 years. God receives all the glory – I’m just His mouthpiece sharing His love and His Word.
It has not been an easy road. The devil delights in creating adversity for us because of this healing ministry. But I choose to look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of my faith, life, and ministry. Our life and times are in the hands of the Lord.

My porn addiction recovery project that I recorded with four ministers is being edited and will be available in the near future produced by Life Enrichment Ministries, Inc. It contains around four hours of information to help the addicted person and educate church leadership.
