Holy, Holy, Holy!

Isaiah 6:3 – “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory! There is an article in The Woman’s Study Bible by Nelson on page 868 entitled, Attributes of God. The commentary says, “All God’s attributes flow out of His holiness. That is why He is incapable of the slightest hint of impurity, unrighteousness, untruth, injustice, or questionable use of power.”

God’s Word instructs us to be holy as He is holy! Being baptized in the Holy Ghost, we should not allow impurity, unrighteousness, untruth, injustice, or questionable use of power be in our thoughts, words or actions!

“Be ye holy for I AM holy!” This is a command to believers found in several references in scriptures. The word holy (Heb. qadosh) means “unique, set apart, unlike all others.” We are to do all (everything) we do heartily as unto the Lord (Cols. 3). Our bodies belong to God purchased by His blood. We are to glorify God in our body and spirit (1 Cor. 6).

Being holy is making a conscious choice to imitate God (Ephs. 5:1 – read whole chapter). When we imitate God, we will have peaceful loving relationships with others in our lives beginning in the home. What we are in the home is our true character. We cannot live a double life and be in right standing with God.

We are to reflect God’s character through our thoughts, feelings, words and actions toward others. I’ve been counseling hurting people for 25 years (now nationwide by phone/Skype (636) 448-0121). Physical abuse of all types and emotional pain come from hearts that are unholy. Many of the perpetrators of abuse, divorces, porn addictions, sexual sins, etc., are people proclaiming to be a Christian. Going to church does not make a Christian.

A Christian is to be Christ like! We are to be unique, set apart, and unlike all others – following in Christ’s footsteps. 1 John 3:9-11 New Living Translation (NLT)

9 “Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life[a] is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. 10 So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers[b] does not belong to God.11 This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.”

God’s truth will be our judge. We can choose to live in our selfishness and pretend to walk with God, but God is the final judge. Life is much more joyful when we are willing to surrender our entire self unto the Lord. I am determined every day to be holy as He is holy! With God, all things are possible! What is your choice?
