As a certified pastoral counselor, my counseling is based on the Word of God. My formal education gave me insight to understanding people who have experienced all types of abuse, causes for divorce, addictions, generational dysfunctions, etc. God is Wonderful, the Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.
When people come from a painful past or dysfunctional present, they have their own interpretation about their lives. In my counseling, we process their life’s experiences through God’s interpretation by who they are now in Christ Jesus. Many people say to me, “Where were you 20 years ago? I needed this truth then!”
A question I ask repeatedly is, “What is God’s truth about this situation?” Everyone is accountable to God for his/her own thoughts, feelings and actions. As individuals, we must process our life through God’s truth. When we take our thoughts to God first, then our feelings will be god-like and our actions will please Him. We can’t blame others for our actions – we are accountable to God.
People seek my counsel who have pornography addictions. (Go to: www.carolclemans.org to read “Pornography Destroys Marriages, Families & Ministries). Porn addiction is the ‘secret sin’ among our churches. We must equip people with God’s truth in how to overcome this addiction. It is the most difficult addiction to break because it is a self-induced brain chemical addiction according to medical professionals. I am counseling lay people and pastors with this problem.
